The Art of Music:
Music is the art of arranging sounds in periodic time so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. In the world many of people listen the music for Time pass but most of people listen for removing tension.
Music is an art form whose medium is sound and silence. Common elements of music are pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. The word derives from Greek.
To many people in many cultures, music is an important part of their way of life. Greek philosophers and ancient Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies.
Most of the time music is kept in memory and performance only. If handed down orally, this music may be considered "traditional" or not considered composed by individuals. Different musical traditions have different attitudes towards how and where to make changes to the original source.
Soul of music:

We can hear it with our mind's ear, far better than we can see in detail with our mind's eye a painting, a sculpture, or any form of plastic art, and also far better than we can recall a poem or a story, of which we usually retain only the idea, not the form, unless we have memorized it. And the reason lies in the fact that in music the form and the substance are one, the matter and the expression identical - in other words, we are concerned with the thing itself and not with the representation of it.

India is known for its diverse culture and heritage. Music has always occupied a significant position in the Indian culture. The oldest Hindu scripture: Vedas also mentions about music. Samadeva, one of the four vedas describes music at length.
The basis of Indian music is "sangeet". Sangeet is a combination of three different are forms, namely: vocal, instrumental and dance. Raag and Taal form the two most important pillar of Indian music. "Raag comprises of the melodic part of Indian Music while Taal forms the rhythmic aspect.
Types of music:
Music can be divided into many genres in many different ways. These classifications are often arbitrary and closely related styles often overlap.Many singer and expert do not believe that generic classification of musical styles is possible in any logically consistent way, and also argue that doing so sets limitations and boundaries that hinder the development of music.
Music can be divided by category, by language, by singer and by culture.
